Zimbabwe

As a family over several years we felt called to do short term mission somewhere in a country much poorer than ours.  In 2009 we felt called by God to go into a third world country to experience how others less fortunate than us live, and to show God’s love in a practical way. But to where? A vision of lions and long grass, and a connection with Mission Travel, confirmed that we should go to Zimbabwe with African Christian Tours and Safaris (ACTS) volunteer program (which has a base in Antelope wildlife park that breeds lions).  So, much to the concern of some of our family and friends, we decided to head on a short term Mission to Zimbabwe.  We spent 4 weeks in Harare working in various orphanages and a boys’ home.

It was such a privilege to work, share and just spend time with these children and their carers.  It was a truly, life changing experience for all of our family.  We learnt not to take the small things for granted, but to be thankful for all that we have.

We now have a great connection with these lovely people of Zimbabwe we visited and will be looking to return.
